Microdermabrasion

We always feel fresh after a good face wash the end of the day before going to bed. We feel like our facial skin is breathing easily, it looks soft and fresh. This happens because we remove the dust particles accumulated on the skin and in the pores closing them. Along with removing the dust particles we also stimulate the pores which open up making our skin feel fresh.

What happens if you remove the outermost microscopic layer of the skin which is made up of dead cells? The outermost layer of the skin is called epidermis which is the protective layer made up of mainly dead skin cells. This removal of outermost skin layer of dead cells is know as exfoliation and is known to provide many benefits with regards to skin care. Microdermabrasion is known to be the best way to do the job.

Microdermabrasion is a simple technique where a small device is used to spray aluminum dioxide crystal powder which helps in removal of dead skin and then a vacuuming out both the crystal powder and dead cells. This method is done in a series of sessions mostly about six sessions each seven to ten days apart for better result. Though the “barrier” property of the epidermis is compromised, the epidermis heals itself within 24 hours.

Microdermabrasion leaves the skin look healthier by enabling the epidermis heal itself with larger cells. The cells arrange themselves closer. The thickness of the dermis which is below the epidermis also increases increasing the elasticity. In a nutshell, microdermabrasion leaves skin look healthier decreasing the aging lines and scars.

Topical creams works well if applied after a single session of microdermabrasion . The reason is simple. Skin cream penetrates through the skin layers before working as skin is a semi- permeable membrane which allows medication to seep through it. Microdermabrasion helps is better effect of the creams enabling them to go through the barrier layer of epidermis.

You can do anything from home ignoring the professionals (other than surgery) like laying the laminates to the floor to removing the body hair.   Microdermabrasion is no different, you can have home microdermabrasion kits and try it for yourself at home. But the the method used and the results you probably get would be different from that of a microdermabrasion done by a professional.

  1. I do not prefer home microdermabrasion. I more prefer to take treatment from any specialist doctor or dermetologist. In that w have to take enough care about our body and skin. While our face skin is very sensitive so more beneficial to take treatment from any doctor or specialist.
